While the first chesterfield couches were designed to be practical rather than comfortable, they soon became an emblem of status in England. They were popular in exclusive gentlemen's clubs where elite society members could gather and enjoy drinks and dinner with their loved ones.

Product Specifications

This contemporary version of the classic chesterfield design This showpiece features hand-applied nail heads and down blend seating. This leather is tanned using a semi-aniline method to give it a sense of clarity and character. The leather is then finished using crackling to increase its natural durability.

The sofa was very comfortable with a medium firmness. (Jess’s husband, who is 6'4" tall, also liked it). The upholstery is a gorgeous gray color that works with almost every room. It's very sleek and high off the floor (so that you can have more space on the floor, if you'd like). I believe it's a great alternative if you're looking for traditional styling that blends well with non-MCM styles like the ones we adore at West Elm.

It's also really adaptable in terms of size because there are smaller versions of this sofa that can fit into a small apartment and larger ones that look stunning in a living room with plenty of other non-MCM furniture. The legs are stunning and can easily be switched off if you wanted to mix things up.

Ajai and I were both stunned by how beautiful it was as we entered the Pottery Barn showroom. It was the first time we had seen this kind of leather chesterfield, and we immediately fell in love with it. It's a light color, tan/sand, with lots of texture that makes it feel warm and luxurious. It was a bit more firm than other chesterfields, but it was still comfortable. The depth is good also - not too shallow where it's difficult to sit but not so deep that you sink in and can't stand up without help.

Product Care

You can enjoy your Chesterfield couch for a long time with the right routine and basic maintenance. You can do some things to keep your couch in great shape besides regular cleaning and spot-cleaning as soon as an issue is noticed. To keep your leather looking and feeling great you should maintain it on a regular basis.

Using a cloth or microfibre sponge, dampen it using clean distilled water (not tap water, which has chlorine in it). You should aim to dampen the surface, not completely saturate it. Clean your sofa. It's important to be gentle. You don't want to scrub the surface, as this could cause it to crack and peel in time.

A good clean is essential however, you should keep your leather sofa in shade, away from direct sources of heat like fireplaces, air conditioners, and radiators. In time, leather will become stiffened and cracked if exposed to excessive heat or sunlight. This will affect its natural appearance and create discomfort for you and your guests.

Let your sofa air dry in a cool location after you've finished wiping it down. To give your leather a shiny shine, use a furniture conditioner. These products are available in spray or bottle forms. It's best to test the product on a small area of your sofa to ensure that it doesn't cause harm to your furniture.

While it's important to have a regular cleaning routine in place to keep your fabric Chesterfield sofa in the best shape, you should also make sure to fill up your cushion filling, especially if you are using fibres or feathers instead of foam, to ensure they keep their natural shape. This will ensure that they remain in shape, and they will be more comfortable to sit on. This is a great activity to do at the end of every day you sit on your couch. It should only take a couple of minutes.

Product Warranty

A warranty is not just a piece of paper you place in a drawer. It's a guarantee to repair or replace your furniture if it breaks down. Understanding the warranty of your couch is the first step to protecting your investment and ensuring your satisfaction.

The warranty of a manufacturer typically covers the cost of replacement parts for two years from the date of purchase. However, there are a few things you need to be aware of when looking over your warranty. The manufacturer's warranty for instance, might not cover all the possible issues with your furniture. It may not cover repairs for the damage caused to furniture due to pet scratches, tears, rips, or spills. Additionally, a manufacturer's warranty usually doesn't cover damage caused by the use of chemical treatments that aren't endorsed by the manufacturer.

In addition to the manufacturer's warranty, some retailers also offer extended warranties on their products. These extended warranties can provide additional coverage for up to 10 years after the expiration of the manufacturer's warranty. These extended warranties are typically more expensive, but they can save you money over time by reducing the chance of having to cover costly repairs and replacements.

Leather is a durable material that can be used by anyone. However, it requires regular maintenance and attention to keep its best appearance. Treating your leather with Leather Bio Creme at least four times annually will ensure that it is in good shape.

Fabric upholstery also requires regular attention to keep its appearance and extend the life of your furniture. Regularly cleaning your furniture with a soft-bristled toothbrush will keep it looking fantastic. It is also essential to vacuum and/or spot clean your upholstery regularly.

To avoid creases that aren't needed to avoid wrinkles, it's recommended for you to regularly plump your back pillows, cushion cushions for your seat and throw pillows. Avoid placing your furniture directly to the sun since this can cause certain fabrics to fade in time.
